Latino Consent Decree (LCD) Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)

The general purpose of the Latino Consent Decree Parent Advisory Committee is to serve as a forum to express concerns and make recommendations pertaining to the education of Spanish-speaking students in SPPS. The LCD PAC members comprise of Latino parents, representatives of community-based organizations, and public school personnel.

The LCD PAC functions to assist the Superintendent and Board by providing information and input on needs of Hispanic students in the district. LCD PAC members are responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the Superintendent/Board of Education to assist them in making informed decisions regarding the education of Spanish-speaking students

The LCD PAC meets seven times per school year (September-April). Monthly meetings provide Latino parents a time to receive valuable information about topics that help them with their children’s education.

Latino Parents as Educational Partners (PEP)
Parents as Educational Partners (PEP) will be offered to Latino parents of ELL students for the first time this school year.  In the Latino PEP classes, Latino parents will be able to learn basic English skills and pertinent information about the school system in Saint Paul.  The main goal will be for parents to communicate with teachers and navigate through the school system.  Bilingual Spanish staff will teach the Latino PEP classes.
